Which designers do you look to for inspiration?

Pierre Hardy, Nicholas Kirkwood and Louboutin are among the shoe designers whose style and business approach I most admire. I look at details from catwalk shows, such as models make-up at John Galliano and bright colours at Matthew Williamson.

What else inspirers you?

Gardens, forests, flowers and things which I am astonished that nature can create.
Do you design freehand or use CAD?

I draw freehand because I believe sketching gives me the most create freedom and it makes my work more individual. I rely on computers for enough already, so using pen and paper makes me feel less restricted and more free to design extravagantly.

Which job has given you the most satisfaction?

Designing my first CLEO B AW'09 collection has given me a huge amount of satisfaction, but the next will be even more challenging and fulfilling.
What are the key trends for SS2010?

Lineapelle Fair presented faded shades of green, blue, mauve and brown with delicate accessory detailing. An array of nudes with touches of gold and turquoise with large shiny objects caught my eye.

What are the key colours for SS2010?

Muted tones of blue and turquoise, warm tones of red, tan and deep brown and nudes, erring on the grey side. I will get rid of the bright azure blue in my collection and will probably give coral a miss next summer.
What is important to you when you design a piece?

It is important that it is flattering to any foot, not just a models foot and ankle. I design pieces that have universal feminine appeal yet are still attractively unique.

What is your design process?

I always archive images and information on decorative themes that catch my eye and return to them when it comes to designing. I then discard what I don't like anymore and work on collecting more inspiration on my chosen subject. I then work on developing the source of inspiration into my own creative ideas that will work in the collection.
