What is your design process?
I generally start with a lot of research, looking at Catwalks, Magazines, Vintage shops, Markets and current Art exhibitions.
I collect images and scribbles in my sketch book and filter through these collections of inspiration to select which ones I find the most relevant to develop a story for the next season.

What is important to you when you design a piece?
I think it is important to create immaculate shapes & come up with clever new ways of construction that stretch the boundaries of how it has been done before. For me clothes should be innovative but at the same time understandable, no fuss & simply make the wearer look gorgeous.
What are the key trends for SS2010?
I think one of the key messages is sustainability put in contrast with innovation. The credit crunch has influenced consumer spending considerably who will be looking more & more towards finding a timeless wardrobe of reinvented classics. Investment pieces which will last beyond one season. One interpretation for me was therefore to look at retro classics & reinterpret them in a unique & contemporary way.

What are the key colours for SS2010?
Sorbet pastels, cosmetic neutrals, dove grey, metallics, grass green.

Do you design freehand or use CAD?
I am a bit of a computer geek & love working in Illustrator & Photoshop. I do however always start drawing by hand, generally as a starting point to really work my shapes before I then manipulate and colour them in on the computer.

Which job has given you the most satisfaction?
I really enjoy working freelance. I like all aspects of the design process, from concept over sketching through to looking at patterns & shapes in cloth & coming up with solutions to make an idea work on the body.
Which designers do you look to for inspiration?
I always love Balenciaga, John Galliano and Alexander McQueen as personal favourites of mine as well as Prada, Dries van Noten, Marni, Viktor & Rolf and Roland Mouret who I always find very directional.

What else inspirers you?
I am very inspired by what is happening in the art world as well as cinema. They represent a mirror of what is happening in society, which helps you keep your design revelant. I like to produce artwork that tells a story.
